Mr. Dotson, the principal at Peabody Magnet High School, which has two assistant principals, would like to know if a family member of Jamie Henagan, an assistant principal, may work at the same school as long as there is another administrator to handle all supervision of the assistant principal's family member.

La. R.S. 42:1119A prohibits the employment of an immediate family member of an agency head from being employed within the agency head's agency.
La. R.S. 42:1112B(1) prohibits a public servant from participating in a transaction involving the governmental entity in which any member of his immediate family has a substantial economic interest.
"Immediate family member" as defined in Section 1102(13) includes a public servant's children, the spouses of his children, his brothers and their spouses, his sisters and their spouses, his parents, his spouse, and the parents of his spouse.
Section 1102(15) states that to participate means to take part in, have, or share responsibility for action of a governmental entity or a proceeding, personally, as a public servant of the governmental entity, through approval, disapproval, decision, recommendation, rendering of advice, investigation or failure to act or perform a duty.
