RE:
Advisory opinion regarding whether a former Jonesboro Police Officer and member of the Jackson Parish Police Jury, Maxie Monroe, may accept a position with the Jackson Parish Correctional Facility.
Facts:
Ms. Maxie is a member of the Jackson Parish Police Jury. For 30 years Maxie Monroe was employed with the police department for the Town of Jonesboro. The Jonesboro Police Department was disbanded by the Mayor. If possible, Ms. Monroe would like to continue her career with law enforcement by accepting a position with the Jackson Parish Correctional Facility.
The Jackson Parish Correctional Facility receives funding from the Jackson Parish Police Jury to assist with the housing of inmates. However, the facility does not operate under the supervision of the Jackson Parish Police Jury.

Law:
Section 1121B of the Code prohibits a former public servant for a period of two years following the termination of his public service from assisting another person for compensation in a transaction, or in an appearance in connection with a transaction, in which the former public servant participated at any time during her public service and involving her former agency.

Section 1113 of the Code prohibits a public servant from entering into transactions that are under the supervision of the public servants agency.

Recommendations:
Adopt the opinion.
