Any appeal of such final decision by the Ethics Adjudicatory Board shall be to the Court of Appeal, First Circuit, pursuant to R.S. 42:1142. V. OPINION: It is the opinion of the BOE that Darryl Ford, in his capacity as Alderman,Town of Cullen, Webster Parish, violated Section 1119B of the Ethics Code by virtue of the employment of his wife, Tameka Ford, as Town Clerk for the Town of Cullen. Section 1119B of the Ethics Code prohibits immediate family members of Darryl Ford from being employed by the Town while Darryl Ford serves on the Board of Alderman for the Town. It is the opinion of the BOE that Tameka Ford violated Section 1119B of the Ethics Code by virtue of her employment with the Town of Cullen while her husband, Darryl Ford, served on the Board of Aldermen for the Town of Cullen. Section 1119B of the Ethics Code prohibits immediate family members of Darryl Ford from being employed by the Town while Darryl Ford serves on the Board of Alderman for the Town. While Darryl Ford served as Alderman for the Town, Tameka Ford was hired and employed by the Town as Town Clerk. If this matter proceeded to a public hearing before the Ethics Adjudicatory Board, and the Ethics Adjudicatory Board found a violation of the Ethics Code, the Ethics Adjudicatory Board could impose a fine of up to $10,000 for each violation of the Ethics Code, pursuant to Section 1153A of the Ethics Code. The Ethics Adjudicatory Board could also impose penalties equal to one-and-a-half times the amount of economic advantage gained,pursuant to Section 1155A of the Ethics Code.
