The Ethics <br /> Adjudicatory Board could also impose penalties equal to one and one-half times the amount of the <br /> economic advantage gained,pursuant to Section La. R.S. 42:1155A. <br /> In this particular situation, the parties have agreed to resolve this matter amicably. <br /> Therefore, it is the conclusion of the BOE that the interests of the public and judicial efficiency <br /> would be served through the publication of this Consent Opinion with the imposition of a <br /> $2,000.00 civil penalty against Tommy Durrett. In exchange, the BOE will dismiss the pending <br /> charges against Tommy Durrett. <br /> VI. <br /> ORDER: <br /> For the foregoing reasons: <br /> IT IS ORDERED that Tommy Durrett, in his capacity as the Public Works Director for <br /> the Union Parish Police Jury,violated La. R.S. 42:1115A(1)by virtue of accepting complimentary <br /> hotel accommodations for three nights in Nashville, Tennessee, as a gift from an employee of <br /> Ergon at a time when Tommy Durrett knew Ergon had or was seeking to obtain a contractual, <br /> other business, or financial relationship with the Union Parish Police Jury. <br /> IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that a$2,000.00 civil penalty, payable to the Treasurer of <br /> the State of Louisiana, be imposed upon Tommy Durrett, and that in the event of a failure to pay, <br /> a suit may be filed to compel immediate payment of any balance due. <br /> [Signatures Contained on the Following Pages] <br /> _ <br />
