Ethics Board Docket No. 2021-889
Page 4 of13
assets governed by the Board of Supervisors and specifically includes LSUHSC-NO.
11.
Mr. Schroth's receipt of supplemental compensation from LSUHSC-NO while employed
as Vice Chancellor for Administration and Finance was not approved by then LSU President
Thomas Galligan, Jr.
12.
By letter dated May 10, 2021, Chancellor Hollier formally requested that Mr. Schroth
continue receiving $7,692 per month in supplemental compensation. LSU President Thomas
Galligan Jr. did not provide LSUHSC-NO with formal approval for the request.
13.
If called to testify, Keith Schroth would testify that:
(a) He served in dual roles at LSUHSC-NO beginning in June 2016, when he was
appointed to take on additional responsibilities as Associate Vice Chancellor for Business
Development while continuing to serve as Associate Dean of Fiscal Affairs. This dual-role
arrangement, which included supplemental compensation of$7,692 per month for the business
development duties, was formally approved by then-LSU President King Alexander.
(b) The supplemental compensation structure was established to compensate him for
actual, non-gratuitous services rendered to LSUHSC-NO in the business development role,
which were duties outside his base position as Associate Dean of Fiscal Affairs. These additional
responsibilities delivered substantial and measurable value to the institution through business
development services.
(c) When he was promoted to Vice Chancellor for Administration and Finance on
November 1, 2020, his base salary increased to reflect his new executive-level position.
