You stated that you do not have an office for your council work
and do all of your work out of your home. Your second question was whether you could
:purchase a tuxedo to be used to wear to your inauguration and to future black tie functions
given your position as an elected official. You indicated that the cost for the purchase of a
:tuxedo was about $150 compared to a one -time rental fee of about $85.
The Board concluded, after examining the provisions of R.S. 18:1505.2I that govern the use
of campaign funds, that each of the purchases you described would not be prohibited.
If you have further questions, please call me at (800) 842 -6630 or (225) 922 -1400.
Sincerely,
LOUISIANA BOARD OF ETHICS
Maris LeBlanc McCrory
For the Board
4111 MLM:ss
AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER
