You stated that you worked in the
Motor Vehicle Unit as an Office Manager for the Breaux Bridge office until you retired on
January 3, 2013. As Office Manager for the Breaux Bridge field office, you supervised four
employees and were responsible for supervising the overall functions of the Breaux Bridge field
office. You are now considering becoming employed with a banking institution in Breaux
Bridge.
The Board concluded and instructed me to inform you that the Code of Governmental Ethics
would not prohibit you from being employed with a banking institution provided that you do not
assist in any transactions involving your former agency. Section 1121A(1) of the Code prohibits
a former agency head, for a period of two years from the termination of his public service, from
assisting a person, for compensation, in a transaction or in an appearance in connection with a
transaction, involving his former agency. Furthermore, Section 1121A(1) prohibits a former
agency head from rendering, on a contractual basis, any service to or for his former agency for a
period of two years. Therefore, as the former Office Manager for the Breaux Bridge field office,
you may be employed with a banking institution, but cannot assist in matters involving the
Breaux Bridge field office for a period of two years from the date of your retirement.
This advisory opinion is based solely on the facts as set forth herein. Changes to the facts as
presented may result in a different application of the provisions of the Code of Ethics. The
Board issues no opinion as to past conduct or as to laws other than the Code of Governmental
Ethics. If you have any questions, please contact me at(800) 842-6630 or(225)219-5600.
Sincerely,
LOUISIANA BOARD OF ETHICS
,' . I i
IF A,!A. /_► 1 /
Je ill ifer T.
