You stated that you <br /> were a candidate in the Special Election for Mandeville Ward 4,Justice of the Peace. You did not <br /> receive any contributions,were totally self-funded and spent$1038.17 on your campaign. <br /> The Board concluded, and instructed me to advise you that the Campaign Finance Disclosure Act <br /> will not require you to file campaign finance disclosure reports with the Board of Ethics in <br /> connection with the October 19, 2013 Special election. La. R.S. 18:1484 provides that each <br /> candidate for an "any other level" public office who receives a contribution in excess of two <br /> hundred ($200) dollars in the aggregate during the aggregating period or who makes expenditures <br /> in excess of two thousand five hundred ($2500) is required to file campaign fmance reports. As a <br /> candidate for the office of Justice of the Peace for Mandeville, Ward 4, you were an "any other <br /> level" office candidate. As such, with no contributions and less than $2500 in expenditures, you <br /> are not required to file campaign fmance disclosure reports with the Board of Ethics. <br /> This advisory opinion is based solely on the facts as set forth herein. Changes to the facts as <br /> presented may result in a different application of the provisions of the Code of Ethics. The Board <br /> issues no opinion as to past conduct or laws other than the Code of Governmental Ethics.
