The Code of Governmental Ethics prohibits Robert C. McCorquodale, for two years following the termination of his employment with the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office (CPSO), from performing legal services for the CPSO on a contractual basis and from receiving compensation for assisting persons in matters involving the CPSO if he worked on such matters during his employment with the CPSO.

Box 3126 <br /> Lake Charles, Louisiana 70602 <br /> Re: Louisiana Board of Ethics Docket No. 2025-189 <br /> Advisory Opinion <br /> Dear Mr. McCorquodale: <br /> The Louisiana Board of Ethics,at its June 6,2025 meeting,considered your request for an advisory <br /> opinion as whether the Louisiana Code of Governmental Ethics permits you to provide legal <br /> services to the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office (the "CPSO") after your termination of part-time <br /> employment. <br /> FACTS PROVIDED <br /> You ormerly served as the head of the In-House Counsel's office for the CPSO. You resigned <br /> from that role effective January 2023. Subsequently, you were rehired by the CPSO as a part-time <br /> employee.In such role,you were no longer the head of the In-House Counsel's office,but provided <br /> gen.-ral legal services for the CPSO. <br /> �(ou are considering terminating your current part-time employment with the CPSO. You would <br /> like to know whether, after such termination of employment, you can provide legal services to the <br /> CPSO on a contract basis. <br /> LAW <br /> La. R.S.42:1121A(1)provides no former agency head or elected official shall,for a period of two <br /> years following the termination of his public service as the head of such agency or as an elected <br /> public official serving in such agency, assist another person, for compensation, in a transaction, or <br /> ir.: an appearance in connection with a transaction, involving that former agency or render any <br /> service on a contractual basis to or for such agency. <br /> La.
