You provided that
you were appointed to the Lake Charles Planning and Zoning Commission as an alternate
commissioner prior to becoming the Executive Director of the Lake Charles Housing Authority.
The Planning and Zoning Commission requested that you stay on as an alternate Commissioner.
ANALYSIS AND CONCLUSION
The Board concluded, and instructed me to inform you, that no provision of the Code prohibits
you from continuing to serve on the Lake Charles Planning and Zoning Commission while you
are the Executive Director of the Lake Charles Housing Authority. However, this matter may
present an issue concerning Louisiana Dual Officeholding and Dual Employment prohibitions,
which are not under the jurisdiction of the Board but are under the Attorney General's jurisdiction.
The Board suggests that you contact that office regarding the application of those laws. A copy of
your request and this opinion will be forwarded to the Attorney General's Office..
This advisory opinion is based solely on the facts as set forth herein. Changes to the facts as
presented may result in a different application of the provisions of the Code of Governmental
Ethics. The Board issues no opinion as to past conduct or as to laws other than the Code of
Governmental Ethics, the Campaign Finance Disclosure Act, the Lobbyist Disclosure Acts, and
the conflict of interest provisions contained in the Louisiana Gaming Control Law.
If you have any questions,please contact me at (800) 842-6630 or(225) 219-5600.
Page 1 of 2 (BD 2025-363)
AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER
