Lightner Ave. <br /> Iowa, Louisiana 70647 <br /> Ite: Docket No.2025-465 <br /> Advisory Opinion <br /> Dear Ms. Leger: <br /> The Louisiana.Board of Ethics, at its October 3, 2025 meeting, considered your advisory opinion <br /> request as to whether the Code of Governmental Ethics (the "Code") permits you to provide <br /> services to ouiside agencies during your employment and after your retirement. <br /> FACTS PROVIDED <br /> �(ou currently serve as Special Education Reporting("SER") Data Coordinator within the Special <br /> EdLca.tion Department of Calcasieu Parish School Board("CPSB"). In such role, you report to the <br /> head of the Special Education Department. You currently plan to retire from CPSB effective <br /> Janizary 1, 2026. <br /> You would like to know whether you may offer consulting services to SER employees in other <br /> parish--s either prior to or after your retirement. You would also like to confirm whether you can <br /> o'fer your consulting services to CPSB after your retirement. <br /> LAW <br /> La.R.S.42:1.113A states that no public servant,or a member of such a public servant's immediate <br /> family,or a legal entity in which he has a controlling interest shall bid on or enter into any contract, <br /> sub,;ontract or other transaction that is under the supervision or jurisdiction of the agency of such <br /> public servant. <br /> Lai.
