Cas,;idy: <br /> 7'h Louisiana Board of Ethics,at its December 5,2025 meeting,considered your advisory opinion <br /> rc:que,st, on behalf of the Cameron Parish School Board ("CPSB"), as to whether the Code of <br /> 0ove:rnmental Ethics (the "Code") prohibits companies owned by family members of CPSB <br /> til nployees from contracting with CPSB. <br /> FACTS PROVIDED <br /> Tars Duhon. is an employee of CPSB, serving as a bus driver for Grand Lake. Her husband, <br /> Christopher Duhon, is the owner of Duhon Dirt Service, LLC ("Duhon Dirt"). <br /> 1'ara Cox is an employee of CPSB, serving as a teacher at Grand Lake Elementary. She and her <br /> 1,ius-)a ld, 'Phomas Cox, are the owners of Southwest Generator Sales and Service, L.L.C. <br /> ("Souffiwest:"). <br /> Each of Dulron Dirt and Southwest would like to contract with CPS13 to provide services. CPSB <br /> notes that as a parish with approximately 5,000 residents; there are limited numbers of certain <br /> Sca•N'i(.--,e providers and that contracting with vendors outside Cameron Parish results in higher costs. <br /> You would like to know whether Duhon Dirt and Southwest can contract with CPSB while Ms. <br /> l)ulican and N1.3. Cox remain employees of CPSB. <br /> LAW <br /> Lat.
