Ethics Board Docket No. 2021-767 <br /> Page 5 of 8 <br /> subject matter of which was devoted substantially to the responsibilities, programs or operations <br /> of Caddo Magnet High School and in which Mr. Reeves participated. Ms. Reeves was a public <br /> servant in her capacity as a drama teacher with Caddo Magnet High School. Ms. Reeves's agency <br /> for purposes of the Ethics Code was Caddo Magnet High School. As a drama teacher, teaching <br /> acting skills to her students was substantially devoted to the responsibilities, programs or <br /> operations of Caddo Magnet High School and in which Mr. Reeves participated. Therefore, Ms. <br /> Reeves was prohibited from receiving money from Caddo Magnet High School students or their <br /> parents for after-school acting lessons. <br /> If this matter proceeded to a public hearing before the Ethics Adjudicatory Board("EAB"), <br /> and the EAB found a violation of the Ethics Code,the EAB could impose a fine of up to $10,000 <br /> pursuant to La. R.S. 42:1153. Additionally, the EAB could impose a civil penalty up to 1.5 times <br /> the amount of the illegal gain,pursuant to La. R.S. 42:1155. <br /> In this particular matter,the parties have agreed to resolve this matter amicably. Therefore, <br /> it is the conclusion of the BOE that the interests of the public and judicial efficiency would be <br /> served through the publication of this Consent Opinion with the imposition of a $3,673.90 civil <br /> penalty against Patricia Reeves. <br /> VI. <br /> ORDER: <br /> For the foregoing reasons: <br /> IT IS ORDERED that Patricia Reeves, in her capacity as a drama teacher for Caddo <br /> Magnet High School, violated La. R.S. 42:1111C(1)(a) by virtue of her receipt of payments in <br /> connection with after-school drama lessons taught to her students, which drama lessons were <br />
