LOUISIANA BOARD OF ETHICS <br /> CONSENT OPINION <br /> BD NO: 2023-012 <br /> RE: IN THE MATTER OF DR. GERALD GERDES <br /> The Louisiana Board of Ethics (the "BOE"), pursuant to the authority contained in the <br /> Louisiana Code of Governmental Ethics (the "Ethics Code"), La. R.S. 42:1101, et. seq., and <br /> particularly Section 1141 of the Ethics Code, conducted a confidential investigation concerning <br /> information that Dr. Gerald Gerdes, in his capacity as a member of the Louisiana State Board of <br /> Optometry Examiners(the"LSBOE"),may have violated Section 1111 C(2)(d)of the Ethics Code <br /> by virtue of his receipt of compensation for services rendered to Optometry Association of <br /> Louisiana, a Louisiana non-profit corporation, ("OAL") while OAL had or was seeking to have <br /> contractual, financial or business relationships with the LSBOE. <br /> On the basis of information obtained during the investigation, and with the concurrence of <br /> Dr. Gerdes, the BOE and Dr. Gerdes enter into this Consent Opinion as follows: <br /> I. <br /> PARTIES: <br /> The Parties hereto are: <br /> Dr. Gerald Gerdes, a person of the full age of majority, domiciled in the <br /> Parish of Lafayette with the last known address of 207 Isaiah Drive, <br /> Lafayette, Louisiana 70508; and <br /> The Louisiana Board of Ethics, a Louisiana State agency domiciled in <br /> East Baton Rouge Parish whose mailing address is P.O. Box 4368, Baton <br /> Rouge, Louisiana 70821. <br />
