LOUISIANA BOARD OF ETHICS <br /> CONSENT OPINION <br /> RE: IN THE MATTER OF DR. DAVID SOBEK BD NO:2022-331 <br /> The Board of Ethics (the `BOE"), pursuant to the authority contained in the Louisiana <br /> Code of Governmental Ethics(hereinafter referred to as the "Ethics Code"),La. R.S. 42:1101, et. <br /> seq., and particularly Section 1141 of the Ethics Code, conducted a confidential investigation <br /> concerning information that Dr. David Sobek, in his official capacity as a professor at Louisiana <br /> State University, violated La. R.S. 24:56(F)(1) by lobbying members of the Louisiana Legislature <br /> during the 2022 Legislative Session regarding the teaching of Critical Race Theory. On the basis <br /> of information obtained during the investigation, and with the concurrence of Dr. David Sobek, <br /> the BOE enters into this Consent Opinion as follows: <br /> I. <br /> PARTIES: <br /> The Parties hereto are: <br /> Dr. David Sobek, a person of the full age of majority, domiciled in the Parish of <br /> East Baton Rouge with a last known address of 6331 Chippendale Drive Baton <br /> Rouge, Louisiana 70817 <br /> The Louisiana Board of Ethics, an agency of the State of Louisiana, whose <br /> mailing address is P.O. Box 4368, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, 70821. <br /> H. <br /> JURISDICTION: <br /> 1. <br /> The BOE is an agency of the State of Louisiana domiciled in East Baton Rouge Parish, <br /> Louisiana. <br />
