Reconsideration request that the Board waive the $700 campaign finance late fee assessed against John "Johnny" Lee, Jr., a candidate for Judge, 1st Parish Court, Div. B., Jefferson Parish, in the November 3, 2020 election, whose 30-P campaign finance disclosure report was filed 7 days late.
Facts:
Raymond Landry, treasurer for campaign of Johnny Lee, requests a waiver and states the following:

They believe the 30-P was not necessary, because the sole opposing candidate withdrew before the 90-P was filed.


Initial waiver request stated that in the past, they relied on annual notices that weren't received this year. Report preparer takes full responsibility and asks that the judge not be penalized for their error.

Law:
18:1505.4.A(1) Any candidate, the treasurer or chairman of a political committee, or any other person required to file any reports under this Chapter, who knowingly fails to file or who knowingly fails to timely file any such reports as are required by this Chapter may be assessed a civil penalty for each day until such report is filed. 18:1484.(2)(b). Each candidate for any other public office shall file reports of contributions in excess of two hundred dollars in the aggregate during the aggregating period.
Recommendations:
Reaffirm decision to decline to waive.
