Dr. Shelta Richardson is a school board member for St. Tammany Parish School Board. Dr. Richardson has requested that the Superintendent of the St. Tammany Parish School Board provide her with verification of criminal background checks relative to the hiring of all employees of St. Tammany Parish Public School System. The Superintendent and the Board of Directors rejected her motion requiring the Superintendent release the records to Dr. Richardson.
Dr. Richardson questions whether she is committing malfeasance as an individual board member by not ensuring that criminal background checks are being performed and whether it is malfeasance for the Superintendent to refuse to provide the records.
