Request that the Board reconsider its decision to decline to waive the $400 campaign finance late fee assessed against Steven Marcus, an unsuccessful candidate for Councilman, Town of Madisonville, St.Tammany Parish, in the July 11, 2020 election, whose 10-G campaign finance disclosure report was filed 12 days late. |
|
Sheri Morris requests reconsideration on behalf of Mr. Marcus and states the following:
Mr. Marcus raised very little money during his campaign. The COVID-19 pandemic caused changing deadlines, and once Mr. Marcus was aware of such deadlines, he made his filing. The fine is excessive and such a fee will deter citizens from running for office.
