Request that the Board waive a $540 campaign finance late fee assessed against Brady Dennis O'Callaghan, successful candidate for District Judge, 1st Judicial District Court, ES 2, Div. H, Caddo Parish, in the November 3, 2020 election, whose 30-P campaign finance disclosure report was filed 9 days late. |
|
Brady Dennis O'Callaghan requests a waiver and states the following:
He was unopposed during this election cycle, and had not maintained any fundraising committee or participated in any fundraising activity, so there was no campaign finance activity to disclose, nor did he retain the services of an accountant or consultant, since he raised no funds. Also, he did not retain any money from previous election cycles to report. Given this complete lack of financial activity and the lack of any opponent, he suggests that there was no harm to the public caused by the delay. He is asking that the fine be reduced or suspended. The reminder and notice of late filing took nine days to reach him by certified mail, and he filed on the day he received the reminder.
