| Advisory opinion request regarding whether the Code of Governmental Ethics (Code) would require Brian Boney to take a leave of absence from his position as a part-time police officer in Tullos, Louisiana while running for election for Police Chief of Ball. |

Mr. Boney stated that he would not campaign while on duty for the Tullos Police Department. He stated that it would do no good to campaign in Tullos because Tullos is in LaSalle Parish and Ball is located in Rapides Parish.

La. R.S. 42:1111A prohibits a public servant from receiving anything of economic value, other than compensation and benefits from the governmental entity to which he is duly entitled, for the performance of the duties and responsibilities of his office or position.
