Request that the Board waive the $400 and two (2) $100 campaign finance late fees for a total of $600 assessed against David Gregory Nowak, unsuccessful candidate for Council Member at Large, Division 2, Orleans Parish, in the October 14, 2017 election, whose 30-P, 10-P and 10-G campaign finance disclosure reports were filed 4, 1 and 1 day late, respectively. |
|
David Gregory Nowak requests a waiver and states the following:
He self-financed the campaign and only accepted one donation from a close family friend. He filed a couple of reports late, there were not a long list of donors and expenditures to report. The fines total $600 is close to the total amount of expenditures for this campaign. He spent many weeks in 2020 unemployed due to the COVID crisis. He was mistaken in thinking the deadline was Friday and submitting it early on Saturday would result in only 1 day late, but resulted in 4 days late.
