Advisory opinion request from Deon Boudreaux, Police Chief of Port Barre, regarding whether he may work for a bail bonds agency while employed as Police Chief. |
|
Chief Boudreaux states that he would like to start his own bail bonds company. To start a bail bonds company, he will need a bail bonds license. To get a license, he will need to work as an apprentice for three months.
In order to answer this question, the Board would need to know which bail bonds agency the Chief would be apprenticing for; and, if that bail bonds agency has a business relationship with his agency.
However, this request did not contain any contact information. A call was made to
the Police Department in Port Barre on April 22, 2022 and a message was left
requesting a return phone call. Another attempt was made on May
17, 2022 and received a message that the
phone number for the police department was disconnected. Staff left a message at city hall for Chief Boudreaux. Later that day, staff pulled Chief Boudreaux's campaign finance records that included a
cell phone number and left a message letting him know that the Board
cannot render an advisory opinion without further information. No response has been
received.
