| A Withdrawal of a Request for an Advisory Opinion, submitted by Kathryn Lafrentz, regarding whether the Louisiana Code of Governmental Ethics ("Code") would prohibit The Pro Bono Project from appointing a curator for absent defendants. |

Ms. Lafrentz is the Director of Legal Services for the Pro Bono Project ("Project"). The Project typically services out-of-state defendants via long arm service. There have been instances where the defendant cannot be located and the plaintiff requests that a curator be appointed. The Project originally asked whether the Code would prohibit it from petitioning the court to appoint a different volunteer or an in-house staff attorney to be curator for absent defendants. The Project's request is not within the jurisdiction of the Board. Staff advised Ms. Lafrentz and that the Louisiana Attorney Disciplinary Board would likely be the proper entity to contact. As a result, Ms. Lafrentz would like to withdraw her request.
