RE:
Withdrawal of Request for an Advisory Opinion, submitted by W. Thomas Barrett, III, regarding whether the Louisiana Code of Governmental Ethics ("Code") would prohibit a police juror for the Cameron Parish Police Jury ("Police Jury") from being hired as the Executive Director for the Cameron Parish Port Harbor and Terminal District ("District").
Facts:
Mr. Barrett represents the Police Jury and the District. The District employs two (2) full time employees: Executive Director and Executive Assistant. The District has maintained these positions for approximately ten (10) years. The Executive Director position is vacant after the resignation of the most recent Executive Director. The District's Executive Director is hired and supervised by the District's Board of Commissioners. The Police Jury is neither involved in the day to day operations of the District nor is the Policy Jury involved in District personnel decisions.

A current Police Juror is interested in the District's Executive Director position. The District is also interested in hiring the Police Juror. The Police Juror will resign from his elected position as Police Juror in order to be employed by the District. Tom Barrett has requested to have the request withdrawn.
Recommendations:
Approve the withdrawal of the request for advisory opinion.
Assigned Attorney: LaToya D. Jordan
