Scott Saunier served as the Chief Administrative Officer for Iberia Parish until his resignation in October 2021. He is seeking appointment to fill a vacancy on the Iberia Parish Council. The Council will meet on June 14, 2022 to appoint an Interim Council Member.

Rule 605 of the Rules of the Louisiana Board of Ethics allows the Ethics Administrator to issue an emergency opinion when the opinion must be rendered prior to the next regularly scheduled meeting of the Board. The Iberia Parish Council has a vacant position due to the death of a councilmember, and will meet on June 14, 2022 to appoint a person Interim Council Member. Pursuant to this Rule, and after consultation with the Chairwoman, the emergency opinion was rendered. The Rule provides that this opinion may be relied upon with impunity until such time as the Board adopts a contrary or qualifying opinion at a subsequent meeting.

La. R.S. 42:1121A(2) prohibits a former member of a board or commission, for a period of 2 years from the termination of his public service, from being appointed to a position by his former board or commission.
