The Lycée Français de la Nouvelle-Orléans Johnson Campus located at 1800 Monroe Street, New Orleans, Louisiana, has a playground structure in need of repairs. The sole source of the equipment needed for the repair is Pelican Playgrounds, LLC. Lauren Knight is a member and manager of Pelican Playgrounds, LLC. Lauren Knight previously served as Board member on the Board of Directors for Lycée Français de la Nouvelle-Orléans until her term ended on June 30, 2022. Pelican Playgrounds, LLC has offered to sell the parts needed, at cost, to the Parent-Teacher Association's separate 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, La Liaison du Lycée Français de la Nouvelle-Orléans ("La Liaison"). Lauren Knight has confirmed that Pelican Playgrounds, LLC will not profit from this transaction and she will receive no compensation for such. La Liaison plans to donate the required parts to the school. Additionally, Lauren Knight will donate her services to install the equipment at no cost.

La. R.S. 42:1121A(1) provides that no former agency head or elected official shall, for a period of two years following the termination of his public service as the head of such agency or as an elected public official serving in such agency, assist another person, for compensation, in a transaction, or in an appearance in connection with a transaction, involving that agency or render any service on a contractual basis to or for such agency.
La. R.S. 42:1121A(2) provides that no former member of a board or commission shall, for a period of two years following the termination of his public service on such board or commission, contract with, be employed in any capacity by, or be appointed to any position by that board or commission.
