Request that the Board waive the two (2) $2,500 campaign finance late fees for a total of $5,000 assessed against Voters Organized to Educate, as an other person in the November 13, 2021 election, and its Deputy Director, Bruce Reilly, whose 30-P and 10-P campaign finance disclosure reports were filed 66 and 45 days late, respectively. |
|
Bruce Reilly, the committee's Deputy Director for Voters Organized to Educate, requests a waiver and states the following:
As a very visible public facing 501c4 organization, they conduct nonpartisan surveys, forums and research to help inform voters regarding candidates positions and background on criminal justice issues. The late filings are rooted in the unforeseen life circumstances of their planned filer. Ultimately rather than risk any errors, they were able to contract attorney Jimmy Burland to finalize their filings. They actually rely on filings for parts of their research and reporting. Whereas his organization has a grassroots base, with transparent policy goals and he apologizes for the filing delays and request leniency with the $5,000 fines.
