Request that the Board waive a $480 campaign finance late fee assessed against Jefferson "Jeff" Joyce, unopposed candidate for City Judge, City Court, Division B, City of Monroe, Ouachita Parish, in the November 3, 2020 election, whose 30-P campaign finance disclosure report was filed 8 days late. |
|
Jefferson "Jeff" Joyce requests a waiver and states the following: When he filed his Campaign Finance Disclosure paperwork, he called and confirmed that nothing else needed to be filed. He remembers being quite adamant with the person he spoke with to be sure that he had completed everything required of him as he had been hearing that other Judges in our area were getting noticed of their violations. He believed that most of this stems from the fact that the Clerk of Court was new and was unaware of this requirement. He has always tried to comply the best he could. After the passing of so much time, he feels that the fee should be waived or at least reduced. There was no reporting that would need to be disclosed, and he truly believes that this matter should have been addressed closer to the date it happened rather than more than 16 months later.
