Lowell Christopher "Chris" Hazel, requests a waiver and states the following:
As to the reason for the untimely filing, his Judicial Assistant, Donna Lacombe, is the preparer of the Campaign Disclosure forms. They were in court on Monday and Tuesday, February 14 & 15, 2022, for felony trials in the 9th Judicial District Court for Rapides Parish. On Monday, February 14, 2022, they had a full day of pretrial motions which ran into after hours in connection with a felony trial that was bound over for jury trial on Tuesday, February 15, 2022. In the afternoon of February, 15, 2022, they were able to negotiate a plea with the District Attorney's office. Once the trial had been cleared from the docket, Ms. Lacombe went back to the office and prepared the report. The next morning, he approved the report and it was filed at 11:11 a.m. on February 16, 2022, less than 24 hours late.
