The Town of Lake Providence (the "Town") is located in East Carroll Parish, which had a population of 7,459 according to the 2020 census.
Jason Condrey was elected as an Alderman for the Town in the November 8, 2022 election. Mr. Condrey's sister owns a 50% interest in the Providence Journal (the "Newspaper"), a local newspaper. The Newspaper is the only newspaper published in East Carroll Parish.
The Town is required to designate a journal of record pursuant to La. R.S. 43:141 et seq.
The Town has subsequently voted to request withdrawal of this advisory opinion.
