RE:
Request that the Board waive the $1,000 and $680 campaign finance late fees assessed against Yolanda Butler Laws, a successful candidate for Member of School Board, District F, Iberville Parish, in the November 8, 2022 election whose 30-P and 10-P campaign finance disclosure reports were filed 37 and 17 days late, respectively.
Facts:
Yolanda Butler Laws requests a waiver and states the following: She started campaigning nearly 8 months before qualifying to run for re-election. This was her first time making a loan to herself for an election. There were also report filing changes that occurred since the last she filed a report for an election. She was slightly confused and originally unsure whether she had to file any reports for the loans to herself. After researching and contacting BOE for clarification, she realized she needed to file. Unfortunately, this resulted in her filing the report late.
