Request that the Board waive the $2,500 campaign finance late fee assessed against Kimya Holmes, a successful candidate for Judge, Criminal District Court, Section D, Orleans Parish, in the November 3, 2020 election, whose 2021 Supplemental campaign finance disclosure report was filed 27 days late. |

Lena Hinton, treasurer for Judge Holmes, requests a waiver and states the following: Judge Holmes' personal phone number was leaked in an attempted murder case. On 1/28/2022, the alleged victim and possible perpetrator contacted Judge Holmes requesting information on the eyewitness to the shooting. For her protection and safety, Judge Holmes had to change her number. Mr. August, the campaign accountant, and Ms. Hinton, the treasurer, obtained her new number for some time after. In February 2022, Mr. August attempted to contact Judge Holmes about his intent to file the annual report, but was not able to reach her. Additionally, in June 2021, Ms. Hinton moved to Houston and was unable to directly assist with campaign management issues. This move also created a delay in response to this notice. Eventually, we were able to communicate and file the report a bit untimely.
