Request that the Board waive the $2,000 campaign finance late fee assessed against Lauren Heinen, a successful candidate for District Attorney, 31st Judicial District Court, Jefferson Davis Parish, in the March 26, 2022 election, whose 10-G campaign finance disclosure report was filed 301 days late. |

Lauren Heinen requests a waiver and states the following:
She and her report preparer called the BOE numerous times to get guidance. Unfortunately, there were some miscommunications along the way. Her report preparer called and spoke to staff with the BOE to see what reports needed to be filed since no expenditures had been made on election day. She was informed that no report was due and that the next report due was the Supplemental Report. She asked again, and again they assured her that no reports were due before February 15, 2023. She had ten days to transition before being sworn into office. She had to transition to a new office, and transition her private office within those ten days. She immediately had people retire, resign, and had those people to replace, within a three months period. Also, during that time, she had her five-month-old cousin placed into her care.

18:1505.4.A(1) Any candidate, the treasurer or chairman of a political committee, or any other person required to file any reports under this Chapter, who knowingly fails to file or who knowingly fails to timely file any such reports as are required by this Chapter may be assessed a civil penalty for each day until such report is filed.
