Request that the Board waive the $1,000 campaign finance late fee assessed against Hannah Smith Mason, a successful candidate for Member of School Board, District 8, Lafayette Parish, in the October 12, 2019 election, whose 2020 Supplemental campaign finance disclosure report was filed 224 days late, respectively. |
|
Hannah Smith Mason requests a waiver and states the following:
This late fee was a complete misunderstanding on her behalf. She was under the impression that if she did not receive or spend any money associated with her campaign that a report was not required. When she received notice of delinquency, she contacted Charles Reeves to request an explanation. It was explained that her last report did not have a $0 (ZERO) balance, so a supplemental report was due. After this was explained, a supplemental report was immediately submitted. She also submitted the 2021 Supplemental Campaign Finance Report showing a $0 (ZERO)balance. With a more firm understanding of the process, she is confident that she will not have any incorrect paperwork going forward. It is her goal to have all paperwork submitted accurately and on time.
