Waiver request submitted by Jonathan E. Mitchell, State Board of Private Investigator Examiners, regarding a $1500 late fee assessed for filing his 2019 Tier 2.1 annual pfd 691 days late. |

Since 2017, Jonathan E. Mitchell has served in the uncompensated position as the Attorney Chairperson for the Louisiana State Board of Private Investigator Examiners. He has been a faithful, prepared attendee and participant at the Board's regular meetings and has gone above and beyond his regular duties. He has assisted attorneys from the AG's office, helped the Board's private counsel, traveled to discuss legal matters, and facilitated communication among several law firms. This has affected his private practice and staff. The former office manager of the Board, Gracie Smith, was very helpful with disclosure deadlines, but due to turnovers in staff, it seems that his disclosures were not submitted timely in 2019. He was made aware only after a fine of $1,500 was levied against him. Mr. Mitchell hopes that his gratuitous service outweighs the administrative lapses which lead to this fine and seeks to reduce the fine to $100. The $1500 fine would make continued service on the board untenable since he does not derive any economic benefit.
