RE:
Request that the Board waive the $3,000 campaign finance late fee assessed against Cleco PAC, Cleco Corporation, a political action committee, its committee's chairperson, Eric Schouest, and treasurer, Melissa Bordelon, whose 2023 January Monthly Report was filed 17 days late.
Facts:
On behalf of the Cleco PAC, Joseph Moss is requesting a waiver and states the following: The January report LA-108881 was filed on time on 2/9/2023, but it was later discovered that the user mistakenly entered 12/1/2022-12/31/2022 instead of 1/1/2023-1/31/2023 as the report's electronic parameters. This caused filing LA-108881 to overwrite report LA-107504 even though the amended return box was not checked. In February 2023, a BOE representative was contacted, and it was decided to submit a corrected filing to resolve the issue. The expectation was that this subsequent filing would resolve the matter.
