RE:
Request that the Board waive the $1,100.00 campaign finance late fee assessed against Melissa R. Henry, a candidate for St. Tammany Parish Clerk of Court in the October 14, 2023 election, whose 2021 Annual campaign finance disclosure report was filed 11 days late.
Facts:
Melissa R. Henry requests a waiver and states the following: After reviewing her calendar for February 2022, she is unsure why she filed her report 11 days late. She takes filing her reports seriously and has spoken to her husband, who has been in and out of the hospital with heart issues for the past 7 years but cannot recall if he was sick during that time. She attended the Clerk's Association Institute in Marksville from February 14-18, 2022, but she recognizes that this does not excuse the late filing. Her records indicate that she was one day late in 2015 and it was her first time running for office. Ms. Henry sincerely apologizes and would like to have the BOE waive or reduce the late fee. She is willing to come before the Board.
