Request a that the Board reconsider its decision to decline to waive the $600 campaign finance late fee assessed against Betty Washington, a successful candidate for Member of School
Board, District 7, Calcasieu Parish in the November 8, 2022 election, whose Special (48 Hour) campaign finance disclosure report was filed 20 days late. |
|
RECONSIDERATION: Ms. Betty Washington would like to humbly submit this request for reconsideration of the decision due to financial hardship. She is a retired educator, recently leaving her job due to medical issues. She has limited retirement income, only supplemented by the funds received from being a school board member. She has had to repair her home to make it livable from the previous weather events with no funding from insurance due to insolvability, increased cost of required daily medication, manage household expenses, and increase the ever-increasing cost of living on her limited income. She has discretionary funds remaining at the end of the month. Ms. Washington appreciates your reconsideration of the matter.
Initial Request:
Betty Washington requests a waiver and states: This was her first time running for office. She attempted to balance the responsibilities of running and caring for her disabled family member and made a mistake for which she sincerely apologizes.
