Untimely request that the Board waive the $2,500 campaign finance late fee assessed against Willie L. Jones, Jr., an unsuccessful candidate for Lieutenant Governor in the October 12, 2019 election, whose 2019 Supplemental campaign finance disclosure report was filed 387 days late. |
|
Willie L. Jones, Jr requests a waiver and states the following:
The person who files his reports assured him that his reports had been filed and that he always communicated with the Board of Ethics to ensure there were no issues with his reports. If he was aware of the late fee and untimely filing, he would have addressed the matter immediately. Within the last week, he was informed by the report preparer of the attempts to notify him via mail, and the late fee notice was delivered with a COVID signature. Mr. Jones believes he should have been contacted via phone since the reports had not been filed. He would like to request that the fee be waived or suspended.
