William E. Willson states that the new secretary was unaware she needed to inform the Board members annually about their need to file. She assumed that everyone would receive a notice via email or mail. Mr. Wilson states the NOD was delivered to his neighbor's address on September 22, 2023 due to a new postman. Since the neighbor was out of town, Mr. Wilsomn did not receive the notice until September 28, 2023. Mr. Willson believed he had fulfilled his reporting requirements by disclosing his wife's employment on his PFD. However, he has now been made aware of his filing requirements and assures that it won't happen again. Mr. Willson is requesting a waiver of the assessed late fee.

La. R.S. 42:1119B(2)(a)(iii) by September fifteenth of each school year, any school board member or superintendent whose immediate family member is employed by the school board shall file a disclosure statement with the Board of Ethics stating the facts of such employment. Any person who fails to timely file a disclosure statement under this Item may be assessed a late fee of fifty dollars per day, not to exceed one thousand five hundred dollars, subject to the provisions of R.S. 42:1157.
