RE:
Untimely request that the Board waive the $2,500.00, $1,000 & $300 campaign finance late fees (Total $3,800) assessed against Marissa A. Hutabarat, a successful candidate for Judge, 1st City Court, Section B, Orleans Parish in the July 11, 2020 election, whose 2022 Supplemental campaign finance disclosure reports was filed 27 days late; AND, in the March 25, 2023 election, whose two(2) Special campaign finance disclosure reports were filed 10 & 3 days late, respectively.
Facts:
Marissa A. Hutabarat requests a waiver and states the following: Her father was diagnosed in February of 2022 with stage 4 cancer and she was frequently out of town assisting him with his care. Her mother suddenly passed away on 7/2/2022. Later that year, her brother was on life support and passed away in January of 2023. She separated from her husband in August of 2022 and divorced on 6/2/2023. In addition to the issues stated above, the late fee notices dated 6/26/2023 were sent to her former marital domicile, which is why she did not receive them timely. Ms. Hutabarat would like to ask that the fee be waived and appear before the Board.
