Request that the Board waive the three(3) $560, $480 &$120 campaign finance late fees (Total of $1,160.00) assessed against Reddex Washington, Jr., a successful candidate for Councilman, District 1, City of Alexandria in the November 3, 2020 election, whose three(3) Special campaign finance disclosure reports were 14, 12 & 3 days late, respectively.AND
Request that the Board waive the two (2) $1,000 campaign finance late fees ($2,000 total) assessed against Reddex Washington, Jr., an unsuccessful candidate for State Representative, 26th Representative District in the October 14, 2023 election, whose 2021 and 2022 Annual campaign finance disclosure reports were filed 532 & 167 days late, respectively. |

Reddex Washington, Jr., requests a waiver and states the following: He won the run-off for Alexandria City Council, Dist. 1, in December 2020 his swearing-in was expedited. It was his first governmental legislative position and he was unprepared. The mental stress of balancing an ongoing litigation, the responsibilities of the city council, and trying to keep his business afloat was strenuous. Inadvertently, he overlooked his ethics requirements. He didn't understand the difference between CF and PFD, so he believed his AG fees were the only penalties owed. After submitting his reports on 8/1/2023, he received notice of his late fees. Mr. Washington acknowledges his responsibility to comply and has made precautions to do so in the future.
