RE:
Request that the Board waive the $2,000 and $960 campaign finance late fees assessed against Roy Lee Allbritton, an unsuccessful candidate for Sheriff in the October 14, 2023 election, whose 30-P and 10-P campaign finance disclosure reports were filed 36 and 16 days late, respectively.
Facts:
Roy Lee Allbritton requests a waiver and states the following: He is 41-year retired police officer and 1st-time candidate. He was unaware of the filing procedures and had no one helping him with his campaign. Upon receiving the notice to file, he contacted a BOE representative and received help to file his report. Mr. Allbritton only had $2,000 of his money to spend and didn't receive any donations. He would like to apologize for the late filing, as he did not understand the filing instructions and mailed his paperwork instead of e-filing. It would be greatly appreciated if this fee is waived.
