Original request stated
: This was his first-time participating in politics. Other school board members ran unopposed, which meant he was unable to receive guidance or answers to several important questions regarding campaign regulations. He took every reasonable step to seek information from various sources, but the lack of clarity and guidance left him unable to make fully informed decisions. Mr. Falting is a single father with 2 full-time jobs and responsibilities on the school board. This has been overwhelming. Despite his commitment, he failed to timely file reports. He regrets this unintentional violation and will take necessary steps to prevent such oversights in the future.
Reconsideration Request:
The reconsideration request contains no new information relating to the reason for the late filings. It does state that the penalties would be a financial burden.

18:1505.4.A(1) Any candidate, the treasurer or chairman of a political committee, or any other person required to file any reports under this Chapter, who knowingly fails to file or who knowingly fails to timely file any such reports as are required by this Chapter may be assessed a civil penalty for each day until such report is filed.
LAC 52:1205(C) states if a report is filed more than 10 days late and the amount of activity on the report is less than the amount of the late fee to be assessed, the staff may reduce the late fee to the amount of activity or 10 times the per-day penalty, whichever is greater.
