Request that the Board waive the $760 campaign finance late fee assessed against Marietta Leonards, an unsuccessful candidate for Police Juror, District 5, Acadia Parish, in the October 14, 2023 election, whose 10-G campaign finance disclosure report was filed 19 days late. |
|
Marietta Leonards requests a waiver and states the following: She acknowledges the importance of complying. After losing the 2023 election and repaying her campaign loan in full, she believed she no longer had reporting obligations. Due to the confusion, she marked the final box on the previous report and didn't file the required report on the correct date. After receiving the NOD, she consulted with her accountant to clarify filing requirements. The report was promptly filed. She closed out future filing requirements with no plan to continue with the campaign. Ms. Leonards takes full responsibility for the untimely filing and has taken steps to ensure future compliance. This late fee would impose an undue financial hardship.
