Waiver request submitted by Reddex Lamont Washington, Jr., Alexandria City Councilman (Pop. 45,275) / District 1 / Rapides Parish, regarding a $2500 late fee assessed for filing his 2021 Tier 2 annual pfd 88 days late. |

Reddex Washington states this was his first time in office. He won the run-off election for Alexandria City Council, District 1, in December 2020. His swearing-in was expedited and there was no orientation for newly elected officials. He has lobbied to change this issue. While also running his business, he became embroiled in a lawsuit with the mayor pertaining to budget issues, which was overwhelming. This went on until the mayor was defeated in the November 2022 election. When Mr. Washington received the LFO he realized he overlooked vital ethics requirements. He did not know the difference between CF and PFD reporting and believed his forms had been submitted. He thought he only owed the AG fees. He did not receive the notice to file and believed it was regarding AG penalties. Mr. Washington now understands all filing requirements and is current with his statements. Please waive the assessed late fee.
