Request that the Board reconsider its decision to decline to waive the $300 and $120 campaign finance late fees ($420 total) assessed against Vincent Milligan, Jr., an unsuccessful candidate for Council Member, District C, Orleans Parish, in the November 13, 2021 election, whose 30-P and 10-G campaign finance disclosure reports were filed 5 and 2 days late, respectively. |
|
Original request stated:
Vincent Milligan requests a waiver and states the following: He is a 1st time candidate without prior knowledge of running a campaign. He faced challenges compounded by the non-user-friendly nature of the filing system. He received assistance from a BOE representative to file. There were limited campaign funds, which resulted in him working two jobs due to the aftermath of a challenging campaign. If these fines are imposed, he would lack the financial means to pay, adding to his existing challenges. Mr. Milligan would like to ask that the Board consider the grassroots nature of his campaign, his genuine efforts to comply, and his current financial constraints.
Reconsideration cites medical issues that prevented filing timely.
