RE:
Request that the Board waive the $40.00 campaign finance late fee assessed against Sherman Jackson, a successful candidate for Chief of Police, City of Gonzales in the November 5, 2024 election, whose 30-P campaign finance disclosure report was filed 1 days late.
Facts:
Leslie Jackson, on behalf of Sherman Jackson, requests a waiver and states the following: The report was submitted online on 10/6/2024. This was her first time using online forms, so she was unfamiliar with the process. Once they realized the report was not showing in the system, Ms. Jackson contacted a BOE representative, who acknowledged seeing the information. However, since she did not receive a confirmation e-mail, it did not post. She did not expect to receive an LFO since the timely submittal was verified. They have since used the online filing system without any issues.
