Advisory opinion request regarding whether the Code of Governmental Ethics and/or the Campaign Finance Disclosure Act prohibits a public employee from wearing a campaign t-shirt while doing volunteer work at a private school.
Facts:
Mr. Smith is a resident of Broussard, Louisiana. He intends to run for Broussard City Council in the April 18, 2026, election. He would like to know if he is prohibited from wearing a campaign t-shirt to a private school.
Recommendations:
Adopt draft advisory opinion.
