Mr. O'Banion states he left his lobbying position with the Baton Rouge Area Chamber in April 2025. In early June, he informed the lobbying staff that he would no longer be lobbying during 2025. He states that at the time, he did not fully understand the process for formally terminating his registration. When he logged into his profile in November to finalize his October report, he realized that his September report had not been submitted. The Failure to Finalize letter was mailed to his former office at BRAC, which he continued to use temporarily during the summer. He states he missed the mail notice during October through December because he vacated the space.
Staff Notes: The lobbying staff emailed Cason O'Banion steps to terminate his lobbying registration on June 6, 2025. The lobbyist must log into their profile to terminate their own registration as well as update their current/forwarding mailing address and contact information. He did not terminate his registration until November 18, 2025. The email is attached.
